Nomads Girls Showcase Girls Tackle Football South of the Border

North Winnipeg Nomads Junior and Senior Girls teams will be traveling to St. Thomas, Minnesota. They have been invited to take part in a halftime showcase of Girls Football during the University of St. Thomas Tommie’s November 7th home game.

The Tommie’s, who visited North Winnipeg in the spring and played two international games, have asked both Nomads MGFA teams to showcase Girls football – to help start and grow the sport in the United States.

“We are so tremendously proud of our relationship with the Nomad Football Organization, Nathan Yamron, Jeffrey Bannon and Dennis Radlinsky to name a few.  The opportunities that our partnership have presented for both UST and for North End football have helped grow both programs.  And now after bringing our team north of the border several times over the years, we are happy to see the Nomad organization represented here in Minnesota at UST,” said Glen Caruso, Head Coach of St. Thomas’ football team.

The Never Alone Classic Flag tournament will be held at the Nomads clubhouse on Saturday September 26 from 10:00am-5:00pm.  This is a partnership with the Nomads and Lyle Bauer's Never Alone Foundation (Former Blue Bomber CEO) Never Alone Foundation is a nationally registered charity committed to improving the lives of people affected by cancer.

There will be four teams playing flag games throughout the day. The four teams are Winnipeg Police, The Nomads/Hawkeyes Alumni, Team Rod(Cruncher parents) and the Winnipeg Wolfpack. The Championship game will be played at 3:30pm.  Since a few of our very own Nomad coaches and parents, and players will be participating, the more support we have there the better!

After the tournament the winning team will be presented with a trophy and everyone is invited for a Burger and Bevie at the Tavern Garden City.  Tickets for the Burger and Bevie are $20.00 and all proceeds from this goes directly to the Never Alone Foundation.
